Pinewood Derby

Pack 97's annual Pinewood Derby will be on Saturday, March 5th in the Parish Hall. The cars were distributed at the December Christmas party. If you were not able to attend the Pack Meeting, we will have the cars available at den meetings.

All moms, dads, brothers, sisters and family dogs can build your own car and race as well. We will have a Family Derby on the same day as the Pinewood Derby. To participate you only need to pay $5 to purchase the car (the pack will provide your car on receipt of payment).

All cars that participate in the derby MUST follow the rules. Cars in violation of the rules will not be allowed to race. Car check-in will be on Friday, March 4th.

The last day to register online is Tuesday, Mar. 1st.

Pack 97 Intro to Backpacking
The intro to backpacking program will run year around in coordination with the hiking program. The backpacking program will serve to prepare older Cub Scouts for high adventure programs traditionally found in Boy Scouts. It will allow experienced hikers to become familiar with backpacking and offers educational components focused on backpacking safety, equipment, trail and food preparation and leave no trace principles.
  • The program is restricted to Bear and Webelos scouts who have earned their 20 miler hiking award.
  • The backpacking program follows the same schedule as Pack 97's Pack 97's 2014-2015 Hiking Schedule. Check the pack website in early spring for announcements on the backpack campout.
  • The program flyer has details on the program including a list of tiers and awards.
